LJ's first show!

LJ's first real show @ Mile View farm

LJ @ Devon

Demonstration of LJ's HUGE ground-covering gaits. His first under-saddle class.
Litho is a 2005 chesnut Hanoverian gelding by ES Loerke and out of EM Rhwanda. He was bred by Mo Swanson on Rolling Stone Farm. He currently stands 16.2 hands and should mature to 16.3 or even taller. LJ was reserve champion colt at his foal inspection and appears to be the perfect mix of his parents. He has inherited Loerke's sweeping movement, looks, and incredibly free shoulder while displaying Rhwanda's smart, curious personality and rideability. This year LJ will begin his show career in the 3 yr old breeding classes and will eventually be sold as a top hunter. This boy is going to go a long way! He is now going well under saddle, W-T-C with small, single jumps. He is quite the pleasure to ride; comfortable, steady, and soft with a naturally well-placed frame. He shows incredible jumping ability, just like his dam and sire. Natural lead changes under saddle at 2 1/2! Video at 1 1/2
Update: LJ is wrapping up his incredibly successful first show season. He will finish up with the Warrenton Horse Show in VA. LJ has attended many shows, under-saddle and in-hand, and has handled everything as if he'd been doing it forever. He loves to go to shows and meet other horses. He is incredibly well broke and has given W-T lessons to my beginner mom! Right now he is working on using himself on the flat and becoming supple and finely tuned. He fearlessly canters and trots up and over just about anything put in front of him. LJ now trailers alone and with company, fully body clips with no drugs, lunges in side-reins, and stands quietly to be braided and bathed.
Show Results:

Dance With Me Henry a.k.a. Henry

Dance With Me Henry is a 1994 grey TB gelding who stands 16.1 hands tall. His show career was not started until he was 9 yrs old and so has many miles left in him. Henry is a jack of all trades with the ability to show in all three rings depending on his training program. Currently Henry shows in the Ch/AA jumper ring. He has a wonderful petite build that is great for making tight turns, his stride, however, can be lengthened or shortened easily to adjust distances. Henry auto changes, counter-canters, frames, bends, clips without drugs, ties, loads and unloads himself, stands well for the farrier, etc. Henry would also excel in the 3' hunter and equitation rings with his round jump and tight knees. His movement is not gorgeous enough for the hunter ring but his jump will impress. Videos of Henry at HITS-on-the-Hudson and Garden State in the Children's jumpers. Hunter videos also available at your request. Henry's price has been dropped because I do not have time to keep him at his full potential. He needs to be sold ASAP to make room for new prospects. Henry will be spending the summer at John Muldoon's Great Scott Farm. He can be seen and tried through DSS, Wendy Meyers, or John Muldoon.

Dhouble Scoop a.k.a. Scoop
Scoop at his GOV inspection
Kissies for Beth and standing like a big boy!

Big trot, perfect for the jumper ring
Having some fun!

Don Principe, Scoop's sire by Donnerhall and Senorita, Scoop's dam by Lancet
Dhouble Scoop is a 2008 (May 1st) Oldenburg colt by Don Principe (Donnerhall) and out of a Lancet mare named Senorita. He was bred on Rolling Stone Farm by Mo Swanson and will hopefully by my newest jumper prospect. Scoop will mature to be a small horse (16?) and since birth has had an unflappable demeanor. In fact, at his GOV inspection he didn't show much movement because he was too interested in the puddles to notice the grocery bags being profusely waved at him! He'll be weaned in September and can come home sometime in Sept. or Oct. He'll spend his first few years on the end of the hunter breeding lines and then move into the jumper ring when he's well underway under saddle. We can't wait for this arrival!

Somebody Groovy a.k.a. Ellie

Ellie at her old home

Ellie at her first horse show ever! 2nd and 3rd o/f and 5th u/s out of 30
Somebody Groovy is a 2001 Appendix mare. I owned her in the spring/summer of 2007 until finding out that she had many holes in both check ligaments of her front legs. This caused chronic, solid swelling with no warmth or lameness. I traded her for Sam in order to give her a more relaxed training regiment. After finding out that she was for sale due to the health of her owner I arranged to trade the two horses back. Ellie still packs my mom around like she never stopped. In the spring of 2009 I will breed her to Hanoverian stallion and ex-World Cup competitor Welcome S. I am hoping that he will add more height and bone to Ellie's build and sustain her easy-going mind as both horses are such pleasures to handle. After foaling either the foal or Ellie will be for sale.

Fox Trot a.k.a. Foxy

Fox Trot is a 1977 chestnut TB gelding standing 15 hands. He is a great teacher and patient horse allowing beginners to gain confidence. Foxy had a great show career with his owner, Lisa Ritzen-Sonntag , making it all the way to the Maclay classes. Fox spent his after-show life giving lessons to Lisa's students at Brigadoon Equestrian Center where he taught young riders about horse care and how to ride. Fox is now living out his days at Dark Star Stables, happily eating grass, keeping his buddies company, and giving the occasional pony ride.
