Piper is a very special addition to our farm. In the middle of the summer in 2008 Piper mysteriously went blind. She was already in foal for 2009 so her owner, Mo Swanson, kept her and she foaled a healthy Gold Luck filly named Ghold Nuggett. Nuggett wears a cow bell on her halter so Mom always knows where she is. Piper is a very smart mare and feels her way around with her nose and listening to your voice to tell her what's going on. With over 90 horses Mo does not have to extra time to spend on a blind horse. Piper will live out the rest of her life just hanging out in the fields after she has another Gold Luck foal in 2010.
Piper is very well bred, by the Hanoverian stallion Pablo and out of a Weltmeyer mare. She was born in 1995 and in 1998 was the high scoring mare at her inspection, just missing Elite status by 3/10ths of a point. She has consistently produced very nice horses by Gold Luck, including a successful broodmare, Ghalewind and a successful 4th level Dressage horse, Ghlenlivet.
